The Mikro Pulverizer® Hammer & Screen Mill is a high speed mechanical impact mill designed for continuous size reduction of a wide range of materials down to D90 < 45 μm. Due to its reliability and durability, this device has become the industrial mill of choice with thousands in service across the world.
The Mikro Pulverizer® is comprised of a high speed rotor assembly fitted with hammers. The grinding chamber has a cover containing a multiple deflector liner and a retaining screen at the discharge point of the mill.
Commonly, a screw mechanism introduces feed material into the grinding chamber. The grinding process generally has three variables:
We use two types of hammers: the “stirrup,” which results in fine particle size; and the “bar,” which yields a coarser grind with minimal fines. Both types are tipped at the wearing edge with various abrasion resistant alloys. Low rotor speeds result in a coarse grind, and high speeds produce a fine grind. In general, a finer screen opening will result in a finer grind, and a larger screen produces courser grinds. The retaining screen does not function as a sifting screen, except in coarse granulations.
Optimum particle size reduction can greatly affect chemical reaction speeds, solubility, weight, color, volume, appearance and strength of ground products. Mikro-Pulverizers® provide accuracy in particle size control because the grinding action is entirely mechanical. Once a mill is set to deliver a certain product, it will continue to produce exactly the same result without adjustment.

The Mikro Pulverizer® Hammer & Screen Mill was designed by the Pulverizing Machinery Company in 1923. The company name was later changed to Hosokawa Micron Powder Systems in 1985. This legendary device has thousands of installations worldwide and carries a reputation for reliability, consistency and durability. The Mikro Pulverizer® Hammer & Screen Mill is designed, manufactured and assembled in the USA and comes with our pledge to performance and guaranteed dependability. Many units built over a half century ago are still in active service today.
